St. Charles County Manufacturing Day - October 2, 2018

​Manufacturing Day is a program of the National Association of Manufacturers and was started in 2012. Last year, 595,341 people participated in Manufacturing Day nationwide, including 267,607 students. A survey of those students showed that the program has a powerful impact. Nearly 90 percent of the students who attended an event said they became more aware of manufacturing jobs in their communities. In addition, 84 percent of students who participated in Manufacturing Day were more convinced that manufacturing provides interesting, rewarding careers. The payoff is that 64 percent of these students said they were more motivated to pursue a manufacturing career and 71 percent said they would share their experience with others.
 
“Businesses across Missouri tell us that workforce is a major issue and that it’s increasingly difficult to find the employees they need for the jobs they have. This problem is especially pronounced in manufacturing, where outdated stereotypes about factory work help to drive people away from today’s good paying, high-tech production jobs,” said Daniel P. Mehan, Missouri Chamber president and CEO. “We are proud to help promote Manufacturing Day in Missouri because we know it makes a real difference. I encourage Missourians to attend the events in their communities and help celebrate the importance of manufacturing in our economy.”
 
2018 Manufacturing Day for St. Charles County will be on October 2nd.  Scott Tate, Greater St. Charles County Chamber of Commerce president and CEO said “This is a great event for both the manufacturers and students in St. Charles County.  Being able to show our younger generation what the modern-day manufacturing world is like and the career opportunities available to them is exciting. At the same time, our manufacturers here in St. Charles County will surely be excited to see the over 750 students in attendance at this event.”
 
St. Charles Community College Workforce Development, St. Charles County Workforce & Business Development, the Missouri Job Center, O’Fallon Chamber of Commerce and Industries, the Greater St. Charles County Chamber of Commerce and many manufacturers in St. Charles County will be hosting an Expo at the St. Charles Community College as well as offering multiple tours for the students.
