For its child-friendliness, low crime, high education and affordable housing, the City of O’Fallon, Missouri, ranked 7th on the national “2016 Best Cities for Young Families” list and scored an A+ rating as one of the nation’s top communities for raising a family.
The online site ApartmentList.com compiled and published the report using F.B.I. statistics to determine safety, the U.S. Department of Education’s high school graduation rate data for school quality, and U.S. Census data for the percentage of the population under the age of 18, as communities with a greater percentage of children tend to be more child-friendly. Census data also was used to calculate the percentage of median renter income required to rent a two-bedroom apartment. In all, ApartmentList.com compared 500 cities from coast to coast. With more than 84,000 residents, O’Fallon is the only Missouri community named in the top 50. Read the article here. “We can be extremely proud of our City’s consistently high marks for safety and our overall quality of life which have kept O’Fallon in the national news,” said O’Fallon Mayor Bill Hennessy. “Our national rating as one of the ‘Top 10 Cities for Families 2016’ testifies to our focus in providing many free family-friendly events throughout the year, our great public and private schools and our incredible recreational programs and facilities for families with children. We also can thank the men and women of the O’Fallon Police Department who dedicate themselves to keeping our City safe. This rating is just further evidence of what our residents already know, that O’Fallon is a great place to live, work and play.”

Meet Billy D with Mister Fix it... Tell us about yourself. I grew up in Southern Illinois then moved to North County where I finished High School. I have two grown daughters, Emily and Sarah. I’ve been married to my beautiful wife Pam for 5 years. I spent most of my adult life in construction and fire smoke and water damage repair. I have held licenses in Plumbing, Electrical and I am a Ranken Graduate in HVAC. Tell us about your organization. Mister Fix-it LLC is a full service home repair and maintenance company specializing in small home repairs. About 70% of our business is involved in helping Real Estate Professionals close their transactions by giving them a reliable home repair resource to repair defects in the home found during the inspection process. We do some remodeling involving Kitchen and Bath face lifts as well as ADA bathroom updates to improve client accessibility. What is the mission/vision of your organization? We started Mister Fix-it because we saw a need for a safe, reliable company focused on small jobs that most contractors won't even take a second look at. As most of you know, most contractors are focused on only the large jobs. Our goal was to change the way people felt about the handyman business and contractors in general. I thought about the complaints that I had heard from friends and neighbors related to their experiences with contractors and handymen. Things like, "they never show up on time" or "it's hard to find someone you can trust”. With these things in mind, and my own experience dealing with sub-contractors over the years, I felt there would be a huge market for a company focused on the small jobs, and that would actually do what they said they were going to do for a fair price. We set out to build an honest, reliable home repair company and I am proud to say, we are accomplishing that goal. What do you do to serve your clients best? We provide detailed line by line estimates that allow our clients to make an informed decision. After the sale, we work hard to produce a high quality product that are customers are thrilled with. Good old fashioned customer service is our goal. What are you most looking forward to in the next 5 years for the company? We are looking to grow our company by expanding to other markets, while maintaining the same level of professionalism and customer service. We understand why we have been successful up until now and we know we must maintain that to continue our success. Why would you recommend the O’Fallon Chamber? The Chamber provides a great networking opportunity to connect with other Entrepreneurs and business people trying to grow and improve their business. I enjoy the professionalism and comradery that is a natural bi-product of getting like-minded overachievers together. It’s a great organization not only for the community, but for the businesses themselves. It’s nice to be able to bounce ideas off of people that you respect and trust. 1000 Mid Rivers Mall Dr, St. Peters, MO 63376
